buzz buzz

As the boys napped yesterday I busted out with the bees again. Margaret was my model but soon got tired of it.

So I began practicing on myself...which is hard to do seriously.

Finally the boys woke up so I turned on Happy Feet. This was a sure bet to keep them in one place while I adjusted my lights and figured things out.

Swarmed by bees

That is right my photo friends...I house was swarmed by bees today! Of the alien kind! With the funds from selling my beloved bus (and a couple fab photo sales to boot) I finally felt like I was able to justify getting some lights. I have no clue what I was doing. Def need to get some practice in. The boys were sleeping...Margaret didn't want to cooperate...but I managed to bribe Aaron out of 5 shots. Here was my fave.

Oh...and to my non photog friends...AlienBee is the brand of the lights :)

Look at me...I'm on a roll with posting this week!

SF Urban

I know I know...I haven't done any pics of the boys in over a week! I'm trying to keep session pics on my business blog but I can't help but share these here. These two drove all the way from Bakersfield saturday for an urban session in SF. It was a ton of fun and a nice change from the more traditional park photos I am used to!

Stormy Weather

A massive storm blew in here friday morning, flooding the streets, taking down trees, and causing massive power outages. We went to my favorite photo spot yesterday and was surprised by the damage!

Trees were uprooting every where

Ten perfect toes

I am an affliated photographer for a very special organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. We provide photography for those dealing with infant loss. While not for everyone, bereavment photography can aide in the healing process by preserving a memory of how the baby actually looked (memory can disort reality, often unpleasantly), and confirming their existence.
I was called yesterday for not one but two seperate sessions. One was gestationally very young but the other was nearly to term and perfect in every way. Please check out Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep here and consider showing your support...and then go hug your babies.

Class of 2008

I did my first senior session yesterday. Let me tell ya...before it started I was afraid of this 17yo!! I'm used to little kids...kids I can't pose...kids I have to hunt down, chase after, be goofy with. What if I bombed this session? It could potentially be GREAT word of mouth. I curled into a little ball...I hyperventilated...I had panic attacks ALL DAY LONG for TWO days!!! And it was all for naught. THe session rocked hard. It was so much fun. Erica was a blast...and I love love love my new lens!! I may have to change the name of the blog from fuzzy pictures to super sharp rockin' pictures. ALl this time I thought it was my camera or me...and it was that dang 50mm 1.8 lens that canon told me was fine. That baby is being sold pronto and I'll pick up the 50mm 1.4...much sturdier...much sharper...and much faster. Well...I'll pick it up after I get me some lights and a wide angle lens. I have such a list of wants. Anyone want to invest in a photography business? lol. Anyway here are two pics I've had time to edit so far. There are much better ones in the lot...I just haven't gotten to them yet.

class of 2008

I was toying with the idea of picking up a fuzzy jacket just for this session...then decided against it. I was thrilled when she showed up with one on her own accord!

Thanks for looking!!

Nina and Tom cuties

Nina and Tom make the cutest t-shirts ever. You have probably seen the boys in them several times...the sweet pea and spud onseies...the lemon and brocolli tees...actually Job is wearing their spud shirt a few posts down. Anyway, they picked the boys to be their cuties of the month for January. Its not the best picture I've taken (color issues due to the funky yellow backdrop that was all wrinkly, etc), but it was the best one I could get of them together where you could actually see their shirts. Check out my models here and then buy buy buy!!!

Happy New Year!!

We rang in the new year partying down with good friends. After we had a chance to recover we took the boys down the street to the local school and let them run around.

Jerah took a header off a chair right onto a vac yesterday so he is looking tough.

Jerah

This is why I love my new lens. Look at the nice smooth bokeh (aka background blur). My focus had also seemed to improved tremendously.

Job

And finally Miss Margaret. The poor thing had surgery last week and has been pretty miserable. She was pretty happy to be out of the house. I'll spare you the gory pictures of her scars.
